Welcome, Alice

The conversation between Elon Musk and Alice Weidel was closely monitored by – attention! – 150 EU bureaucrats. This should not come as a surprise. With the upcoming elections in Germany, this "event" has become critically important.

It was – not only by German standards – a historic conversation: millions of people around the world were able to join a public exchange of opinions between the AfD chancellor candidate Alice Weidel and the future advisor to the U.S. President, Elon Musk, on his platform X. Uncensored, uninterrupted, and free from the usual ideological preaching by the left-green propaganda assistants of public broadcasters ARD and ZDF.

BUNDESTAG ON ITS FEET

In an online podcast with AfD chancellor candidate Alice Weidel, American businessman and the world’s richest man Elon Musk (known for Tesla, SpaceX, among others) used his uncensored platform X to strongly support the AfD ahead of the Bundestag elections on February 23. The AfD leader painted a grim picture of Germany.

“Only the AfD can save Germany,” stated Musk, a close advisor to future U.S. President Donald Trump. Otherwise, he concluded, “things in Germany will get much, much worse.” Musk called Weidel a “very reasonable person.”

The conversation, which lasted more than an hour, was conducted by Weidel in perfect English. It was the first personal discussion between the two figures, who immediately connected. It was followed worldwide and marked a major peak in the Bundestag election campaign. The dialogue between these two globally significant individuals was closely monitored by the EU and the Bundestag administration. The talk, held in the so-called X-Space—audio platform integrated into X—was followed by around 200,000 users, according to the visible counter. Given the open solution and possibility of anonymous joining, it is assumed that the number of followers was significantly higher.

Weidel joined the conversation from her Bundestag office in Berlin. The American businessman greeted the AfD leader with, “Welcome, Alice,” and first asked her to outline her party’s positions.

THE LEGACY OF THE FIRST GREEN CHANCELLOR

Weidel gave a general overview of Angela Merkel’s government, labeling the long-serving chancellor (CDU) as “Germany’s first green chancellor.” Her arguments against Merkel’s immigration and energy policies were indisputable.

Although a strong advocate for alternative energy sources like solar and wind, Musk supported Weidel in her criticism of Germany’s abandonment of nuclear energy.

“That was crazy,” Musk commented.

“Absolutely,” agreed the AfD leader.

The conversation then shifted to a “tour d’horizon” of Germany’s domestic politics. Weidel criticized Germany’s excessively high taxes and sluggish bureaucracy, to which Musk added his own experience with opening Tesla’s factory in Grünheide near Berlin, where he had to submit “a truckload of paperwork” (a total of 25,000 pages) to German authorities.

After criticizing EU internet regulations, on which both agreed, Weidel referred to the latest PISA studies to highlight the catastrophic state of Germany’s education system.

The main topics of the discussion also included the war in Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East. Musk confirmed that Donald Trump would “end the war in Ukraine very quickly.” He asked Weidel about her stance on the Middle East conflict and whether she recognized Israel’s right to exist, to which the AfD politician responded affirmatively. However, regarding the Palestinians, she currently saw no possible solution.

DEFINING HITLER

According to the Hamburg court, known for its biased left-green judicial practices, Alice Weidel can be called a “Nazi b****” – of course, “cynically.” In this context, it was inevitable for both participants in the online conversation to address the anti-AfD campaign in Germany. Weidel referred to Adolf Hitler as a “communist”: “National Socialists, as the name itself suggests, were socialists,” she said, emphasizing, “He was a communist and considered himself a socialist.”

In the end, the conversation veered into the metaphysical realm. Space pioneer Musk spoke about his passion – traveling to Mars. Weidel asked the U.S. billionaire whether he believed in God. He said he was “open” to the idea.

Weidel noted that she was still searching. Identifying herself as an agnostic, the AfD leader expressed the view that she could not definitively answer the question of the creator’s existence.

Alice Weidel concluded the hour-long conversation by saying, “It was wonderful.”

THE ROOTS OF ANTISEMITISM

From the viewer’s perspective, I must admit that I would have liked to hear more about the failed left-green economic policies in general, monetary policy, the EU, and civil rights (freedom of expression). However, I conclude that if my expectations had been fully met, this atypical interview would undoubtedly have lost its appeal.

The Third Reich discussion was unnecessary, but since the topic had already been introduced, I view Weidel’s move to explain in detail why the Nazis were not typical “right-wingers” in a conservative, free-market sense – but quite the opposite – as a brilliant strategy. She argued that their antisemitism was essentially group-oriented anti-capitalism.

In contrast, the AfD, as Weidel presented it, is a conservative-libertarian party. I have no doubt that her views angered her political opponents, as well as the socially patriotic wing of her own party.

In the end, I followed with great sympathy the spontaneous role reversal when Weidel began questioning Elon Musk, for example, about the plans of the Trump administration and his entrepreneurial visions related to Mars exploration.

WHAT A TRIUMPH OF FREEDOM

Until now, I had perceived Alice Weidel as a mostly brilliant politician in terms of content but lacking flexibility and spontaneity – a fighter who approaches every situation with her guard up, fully convinced that an attack is underway. This impression can also be attributed to the fact that her environment is predominantly hostile, even within the corridors of her own party.

Elon Musk, usually preoccupied with his own interests, proved to be a reserved yet genuinely interested listener and a skilled host who fostered a positive atmosphere. The audience couldn’t hide their enthusiasm.

Those who were terrified by the mere announcement of this broadcast dreaded the possibility that followers might ask how Olaf Scholz, Robert Habeck, Friedrich Merz, or Christian Lindner would fare in such a setting. The answer lies on the platform X.

What a triumph of freedom. We can grab some popcorn and once again enjoy a conversation powerful enough to shift the course not only of German but also of overall European reality. Let us not forget our colleagues in the mainstream media, for whom this discussion might serve as a benchmark for their own professionalism, ethics, and success. Let’s wish them a good night.
